Harvest Apple Crisp

This recipe from Margaret Nur was one of the winner's of the Apple Recipe Competition at the Canadian Baking and Sweets Show.

8-10 servings

Ingredients

12 Ontario apples, preferably McIntosh
1 cup, and 1 tbsp flour 255mL
1/4 cup sugar 60mL
1 tbsp molasses 15mL
1 tsp cinnamon 5mL
1/4 tsp tsp salt 1mL
6 tbsp chopped butter 90mL
1 cup oats 240mL

Directions

Peel the apples and slice them. Toss with 1 tbsp. flour. Place in a large, buttered flan dish. Mix up the white sugar with the molasses. Stir in remaining ingredients with the sugar mixture and mix until a soft crumb forms. Sprinkle on top of the apples in the dish. Bake in a 350 degree oven until top is golden brown and apples are soft when pierced with a fork, about 30 minutes, give or take.
